Easy Swirled Cake Recipe

Making this swirled cake costs less than $5 and takes about 15 minutes to prepare.

This cake is made using only one box of any flavor jello that you pick and one white cake mix. The cake mix will require some ingredients such as eggs, water and sometimes oil. If you want to make this less fattening then replace the any oil with applesauce instead.

Ingredients:
1 white cake mix
1 box of gelatin (any flavor you choose but make sure it is pretty like lime, strawberry, or orange)
Butter and flour (or a non-stick spray)
A 2 pronged meat fork

You will need a 9" x 13" cake dish, a mixing bowl, a saucepan, a rubber scraper, and an electric mixer (optional, i never use one unless I am working with something tough like peanut butter or cream cheese)

First preheat your oven to 350 degrees F then follow the directions on the cake mix box.

Mix all of the ingredients as the cake mix directions instruct you to do.
Remember to grease and flour your cake pan before pouring the batter into the pan!

Bake the cake until a toothpick comes out clean when stuck in the middle of the cake.

Set cake off to the side to allow for cooling.

Take a two pronged meat fork and stab the cake covering the cake with even rows of holes. Space them out by an inch or two...do NOT go overboard with the holes. 16 holes with the meat fork should be more than enough.

Take the gelatin you picked out and follow the directions on the box.

It will call for you to take the saucepan and add 1 cup of water & bring to a boil.

Then add the gelatin mix to the boiling water, mix well and bring back to a boil.

You will then add 1 cup of cold water to the hot gelatin mixture. Stir completely.

Once you have done all of this take the hot gelatin mixture and pour over the top of the cake.

Then walk to your refridgerator and set inside to cool. Cover with foil if you wish.

To make it cool faster put it in your freezer instead.

TOPPING:

Simply take whipped cream or cool whip and cover the top of the cooled cake (make sure the cake is completely cooled or the topping will melt ALOT)

Sprinkles can be added as well.

Flavor up your cool whip by whipping strawberry syrup or even jellies can be used to flavor your cool whip!
